In the 2010 General Election voters clearly favored reduced national and state spending, preserving our County’s rural character, and a conservative fiscal approach to local spending. Our candidates reflected those values. As a result, all five Calvert County Commissioners are now Republicans as are our two Delegates, the Sheriff, State’s Attorney, County Treasurer and a Judge of the Orphans Court. We now face perhaps the most crucial Presidential election of our lives, and the outcome will help to determine whether we return to our entrepreneurial, free enterprise roots or become a European style socialist “entitlement” nation. We desperately need to elect a Republican President and a fiscally responsible U.S. Senator and Congressman, such as our own Tony O’Donnell who is running for the 5th District Congressional seat.
